A man accused of brutally murdering his parents and their dog in Southern California had a bizarre reaction after being shot by police—singing a Tina Turner song while lying on the ground.

Joseph Gerdvil, who was arrested on two counts of homicide in San Juan Capistrano, is allegedly the man seen in newly released body cam footage. The video shows him encountering police on a street outside San Juan Mobile Estates.

In the footage, an officer exits his vehicle and draws his weapon, ordering the man, identified by police as Gerdvil, to stop moving. When Gerdvil continues to approach, the officer fires several shots, bringing him down.

As the police stand over him, Gerdvil makes an unusual request, asking them to "finish him off with a shot to the head." He then begins to sing lines from Tina Turner's hit song "What’s Love Got to Do With It," repeating the lyrics, "What’s love got to do, got to do with it? What’s love but a second-hand emotion?"

Gerdvil is accused of killing his 79-year-old mother, Antoinette, his 77-year-old father, Ronald, and their pet chihuahua in early July. The Sheriff's Department reported that officers were dispatched after receiving a call about a blood-soaked man chasing a maintenance worker around 7:40 AM. It was during this encounter that the shooting occurred. Gerdvil was subsequently taken to the hospital.
