Two brothers and an activist who had gone missing after the August 19, 2024, anti-government protests in Kitengela have been found alive in Kiambu County.
According to Faith Odhiambo, president of the Law Society of Kenya (LSK), the brothers, Jamil and Aslay Longton, were abandoned in Gachie, Kiambu County.
"I have been informed that Jamil and his brother Aslam were left at the Gachie border between Kiambu and Nairobi by those who had captured them. Every prayer and effort made a difference. We are thankful to God that they are safe!" she shared on her X account.

In a video posted on the same platform, the brothers recounted their traumatic experience and expressed gratitude to Kenyans for their support.
"We are thankful to Kenyans for standing with us. We were left in a bush in Gachie, and had to find shelter at a nearby home where we charged our phones and contacted our families," they explained.
The brothers also mentioned that any future communication would be made through the LSK president.
Meanwhile, activist Bob Njagi was found alive in Tigoni, Kiambu County. His father, Longman Njagi, shared on Hot 96 FM that his son was safe.
"I received a late-night call from Tigoni police station officers informing me that my son had been found alive," he said.
He added that Njagi was picked up by his brother from the police station. "We are grateful to God. We have been praying constantly, and we are truly thankful," the father added.
This news came shortly after newly-appointed Inspector General of Police, Douglas Kanja, reiterated that the National Police Service (NPS) had not detained the three individuals.
