Police in Rongo sub-county, Migori County, are actively searching for a 37-year-old man, Geoffrey Agunga, who is accused of brutally killing his biological father, Agunga Riwa, in Nyangau village.
The motive behind this shocking act remains uncertain, but family members suggest it may be connected to a Ksh. 200,000 loan that Geoffrey extended to his sister months ago.
Jason Ouma, the deceased’s son, reported ongoing tensions between Geoffrey and their parents, stemming from the sister's failure to repay the loan while Geoffrey worked abroad in Qatar.

According to Ouma, Geoffrey confronted their mother about the loan before the fatal incident. When she did not provide a satisfactory answer, he faced his father as he returned home and attacked him. Reports indicate that Geoffrey had been pressuring his parents to settle the debt.
Eyewitness Maurice Otieno recounted that Geoffrey spoke with his father for approximately five minutes before launching the attack with a machete, inflicting four deep wounds to his father’s forehead, face, shoulder, and arm.
Following the attack, Agunga Riwa was rushed to Rongo sub-county hospital but was unfortunately pronounced dead upon arrival.
Rongo sub-county police commander Salim Fundi confirmed that an investigation is underway, and a manhunt has been initiated for the suspect, who remains at large.
