The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has arrested four public officers found to be using fraudulent academic certificates.

EACC spokesperson Eric Ngumbi confirmed that Edna Bitange, an assistant elections officer at the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), and Mark Chebitwey from the commission's revenue allocation department were detained on Wednesday as part of a heightened crackdown. The other two arrested individuals are Francis Mfundi, an employee at the Micro and Small Enterprises Authority, and Brenda Sulungai, a community development assistant at the Nairobi City Water and Sewerage Company.

The four will appear in the Milimani Anti-Corruption Court on Thursday, October 31, to face various forgery charges related to their academic certificates. Their arrests are part of an ongoing initiative by the commission to eliminate public officers operating without valid documentation.
