In the early hours of Sunday, November 3, a police officer from the Diplomatic Police Unit (DPU) was robbed in Kiambaa, Kiambu County. Officer Stanley Kipterer had left his home near Ruaka in the Bypass area around 4:30 am, headed for work.
The DPU is a specialized police unit that provides security to diplomats and the diplomatic community. While stopping to deposit Ksh.1,500 at a local Mpesa shop in Kiambaa, he was attacked by three unidentified men. The assailants struck him on the head with a blunt object and stabbed him in the upper torso before stealing his Ksh.1,500 and his Samsung A23 mobile phone.
Passersby discovered Kipterer lying by the roadside and rushed him to Nairobi West Hospital, where he is currently reported to be in stable condition.
