Charles Otieno Odhiambo, a 21-year-old suspect recently arrested in connection with the murder of Wells Fargo Human Resource Manager Willis Ayieko, will remain in police custody for an additional 30 days. Siaya Magistrate Margaret Wambani approved the prosecution’s request to detain Odhiambo, a boda boda operator, while investigations continue.
Odhiambo was apprehended by police in Kisumu after allegedly being linked to other suspects believed to have carried out the brutal killing. Prosecutor Evans Soita requested that the court permit police and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to hold Odhiambo for further investigation.
Magistrate Wambani granted the request, ordering that Odhiambo—the fifth suspect in the case—be held at the Railway Police Station in Kisumu. She also instructed that he undergo a mental assessment and authorized investigators to conduct a forensic examination on his two mobile phones.

Odhiambo joins two other suspects currently in custody: Victor Ouma and a woman found in a rented house belonging to the primary suspect in Sagam, Gem sub-county. Meanwhile, two additional suspects in the case have died—a woman who was shot during a confrontation with police and Robert Wakolo, who was killed in Kisumu last week.
Ayieko had been reported missing on October 18 and was found dead five days later in a stream along the Siaya and Vihiga county border.
