A 25-year-old man tragically lost his life following a dispute over Kshs 200 in Garissa Lodge Market in Kisumu Central Sub-County.

The altercation began when the two men, having sold a pair of safari boots, disagreed over splitting the payment.

Kisumu Central Sub-County Police Commander Peter Mulai reported that the suspect, Nicholas Otieno, allegedly struck the deceased on the left side of his jaw.

The blow caused the victim to fall backward, hitting his head on the ground. He was quickly transported to the hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival due to severe head trauma.

Following news of his death, angry residents turned on Otieno, assaulting him severely until police intervened.

Otieno is now receiving medical care under police watch at Kisumu County Hospital and is anticipated to face murder charges once he recovers.
