Police in Njiru Sub-County, Nairobi, have fatally shot a suspected notorious robber believed to have been terrorizing residents across the Nairobi region.

Ian Omondi Achoki, also known as ‘Iano,’ was killed on Monday, November 18, during a shootout with officers at Bargmo Court in the Kirima neighborhood.

Authorities reported that Iano had been involved in stealing motorbikes in the KCC area of Mowlem Ward and reselling them in various locations.

Reports indicate that he was recently beaten by a mob and rescued by his colleagues. After the incident, Iano is said to have suspected that the chairman of bodaboda within KCC had set him up.

Police are in possession of a CCTV footage showing how he chased the bodaboda chairperson within KCC in Mowlem at gunpoint.

He is also linked with a recent murder in Eastleigh area.

Police started this operation following a series of robberies with violent incidences within Buruburu and several outcries from the public.

Police recovered a gun, four live ammunition, one mobile phone make Redmi, and a motorcycle reg. KMGB-068L.

During the operation, police arrested Stella Nyambura, the wife of the deceased, to assist with the ongoing investigation.

Meanwhile, residents called on young people to seek alternative, lawful ways to earn a living, warning that a life of crime often ends tragically.
