Lavender Akinyi Ogilo, an employer accused of involvement in the near-fatal fall of her domestic worker, Shanny Melza Atieno, is under investigation by the Kiambu East Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).
The incident, which took place at Jumetrah Heights in Kiambu, has sparked widespread concern over the safety and treatment of domestic workers in Kenya.
Atieno, who reportedly fell from the fourth floor of the apartment building, is currently undergoing specialized treatment at Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH).
According to Dr. Paul Mang’oli, an orthopedic surgeon at KNH, Atieno sustained severe injuries, including damage to her lower limbs, severed tendons, facial trauma, and the loss of multiple teeth.

She was admitted in a psychologically distressed state, and doctors are conducting further evaluations, including MRI scans, to determine the necessity of additional surgeries.
Investigators have recovered several items from the scene, including a knife and a cooking stick, believed to have been used in an alleged assault before the fall.
DNA samples have been taken from these objects to establish their connection to the incident. CCTV footage from the building is also being analyzed to provide critical evidence.
Ogilo has claimed the incident stemmed from a domestic dispute, suggesting that Atieno may have jumped voluntarily. However, detectives scrutinize this narrative as they reconstruct the events leading to the fall.
The investigation remains ongoing, with authorities working to uncover the truth behind the tragic incident.
