Detectives in Nairobi have apprehended a Ugandan woman linked to a high-profile robbery that occurred at Ushirika Towers in Eastleigh two months ago.
The suspect, identified as 23-year-old Nabalayo Everline Loice, also known as Eva, was arrested by officers from the Starehe Police Division while attempting to flee to Uganda via a bus at Kariokor.
According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the incident occurred on November 3, 2024. Nabalayo, who was working as a house help at the time, was reportedly complicit in the crime, allowing an unidentified armed assailant to enter the premises.
The assailant believed to be a fellow Ugandan, was carrying a hammer and used it to break into a sixth-floor apartment in the building.
The two suspects brutally attacked 20-year-old Somali house help, Hakimo Muhidin, who sustained severe injuries, including a broken tooth and trauma to her head, hands, and legs. The victim was left unconscious in the bathroom, with the suspects assuming she was dead.
The pair escaped with valuable items, including gold jewelry worth Ksh.210,000, a Lenovo XY laptop valued at Ksh.110,000, and an Infinix smartphone worth Ksh.15,000. At the time of the robbery, the apartment’s tenant, a Somali man, was out with his children while his wife was in India undergoing medical treatment.
Nabalayo is currently in police custody, awaiting formal charges as authorities intensify efforts to track down her accomplice. The DCI has urged the public to provide any information that could aid in the ongoing investigation.
