Detectives in Mombasa have apprehended a driver on the Mombasa-Nairobi highway after discovering marijuana concealed in his car.
The operation is part of an ongoing effort to curb narcotics trafficking in the region.
Dominik Oseko Ngisa was arrested at Jomvu after officers from the Anti-Narcotics Unit acted on credible intelligence.
According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), a Toyota Axio with registration number KCK 544J was flagged down by detectives. A thorough search of the vehicle's boot revealed a stash of cannabis rolls, cleverly hidden to evade detection.
“In a well-coordinated intelligence-led operation, detectives from the Anti-Narcotics Unit in Mombasa successfully intercepted Dominik Oseko Ngisa, the driver of the suspicious vehicle, at Jomvu along the busy Mombasa-Nairobi highway,” the DCI confirmed in a statement.
Meanwhile, another operation led by officers from Kiembeni Police Station resulted in the seizure of six sacks of marijuana from a house near Kiembeni Primary School.
The arrested driver is currently in custody, along with the recovered drugs, as authorities prepare to present him in court. Efforts are ongoing to locate the suspect linked to the Kiembeni bust.
