Popular YouTuber Left Disappointed After Being Conned A Huge Sum Of Money

Renowned Kenyan YouTuber Maureen Waititu recently revealed to her fans that she was scammed out of a significant amount of money.

On Wednesday night, she shared the unfortunate news through videos posted on her Instagram Stories, explaining how she ended up losing nearly Ksh 9,000.

Maureen Waititu explained that it all began earlier in the day when she posted on her X account about a power outage in her area.

In the post, the popular YouTuber mentioned that her neighborhood had been without electricity for two and a half hours. Shortly after, a man unexpectedly called her and claimed he could assist with the issue.

Initially, Maureen Waititu was convinced that the man knew what he was doing, especially when he managed to obtain her meter number and phone number without her having shared those details.

As the conversation progressed, the man asked her to send Ksh 10 and then take a full screenshot of the M-Pesa message she received, which displayed her account balance.

What followed was Maureen Waititu was told to send to the man the screenshot of the M-Pesa message via a WhatsApp, and then she was told to dial some numbers.

The mother of two followed the man's instructions, unaware that she was being slowly scammed. Soon after, an M-Pesa message appeared, indicating that she was about to send money to someone named Clinton Rutto.

At this point, Maureen Waititu began to question what was happening and considered canceling the transaction. Unfortunately, the man was still on the phone, continuing to confuse her. In the end, she sent the money, and just like that, her Ksh 8,888 was transferred to Clinton Rutto.
