An Eldoret court has sentenced a 55-year-old wielder to 210 years jail term after being found guilty of more than five charges of robbery with violence.

 Humphrey Shilisia's co-accused man, his wife Amina Melisi and David Gazemba were cleared of the counts of robbery with violence due to a lack of evidence.

The offender will spend 50 years in prison after Eldoret Senior Principal Magistrate Naomi Wairimu decided that the sentence will run concurrently.

The three defendants were charged with robbing Gladys Rotich of Kes 6,000 on June 20, 2020, at Wales Estate in Kapseret Sub-County, Uasin Gishu County, while carrying a dangerous weapon.

Shilisia was accused of raping Gladys above Rotich on the same day and location after taking Kes 6,000 from her cell phone.

The three were also accused of robbing Yulita Mitei in a violent robbery on the same day and location. Kes 19,300.

Additionally, they were accused of robbing Moses Rotich of Kes. 76,800 while threatening to use physical violence against him on the same date and location.

The defendants were accused of robbing Gilbert Murei of Kes 4,800 in a violent robbery on the same date and location.

The complainant described how Humphrey Shilisia's attackers broke into their home at night while brandishing torches while presenting her testimony against him.

She said the first accused person sent Kes6, 000 from her phone and after he had transferred the money from her husband’s phone, he ordered him to go under the bed.

“He then ordered that I go out with him while brandishing a panga on my neck and raped me. After the ordeal, he asked for car keys and when I told him that I did not know how to drive, he let me back to the house and closed the door and left,” recounted the complainant.

In his statement, the first accused person said that on the 20th of July 2020, he woke up to go to his wielding job and stopped to have some music loaded into his USB on his way back.

He stated that two police officers from Langas police station stopped him on the way and he complied.

According to the convict, the officers then asked him to take him to his house to search for a gun, and that while in the house, they took a home theatre, TV, and Gas cylinder before arresting his wife.
