Police in Nairobi detained a Pakistani and an Indian national and five Kenyans after discovering 24 kilos of cocaine and 1,200 kilograms of ketamine with a combined street worth of Ksh.121 million.
Detectives from the DCI's Anti-Narcotics Unit confiscated the designer drugs at a property in Ngara last week after intercepting a Nissan X-Trail on Wangari Maathai Road on June 17 with 23 cartons of a white, powdery substance suspected to be cocaine.

Seven suspects including two foreigners are in custody following the recovery of a consignment of cocaine weighing 24 kilograms and kentamine weighing over 1,200 kilograms.

According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the vehicle was transporting two people and was on its way to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA).
According to the DCI, some of the cargo was disguised as fresh avocado produce set to arrive in Malaysia on June 17, 2023.
"In addition, 55 packages in clear polythene bags containing similar powdery substances suspected to be narcotic drugs and 133 sacks each weighing 25kgs marked sodium bicarbonate were recovered."
Forensic detectives afterwards performed drug analyses to ascertain the exact weight and makeup of the confiscated substances.
Following the drug bust, Muhammed Salem Muhammed Hussein (Pakistani), Ashraf Changu (Indian), Latif Mohamed Dawood (Kenyan-Asian), Wesley Silvanus Adwenya, Paul Kivuli Sote, Railings Innocent Ogondi, and Moses Liyai Imbwanga were detained.
The suspects will be arraigned at the JKIA Chief Magistrate's Court on Monday, June 26.
