A family in Migori has requested an urgent investigation into the death of one of their relatives who was allegedly murdered by unidentified individuals and left along the road connecting Awendo town and Siruti, just a few yards from the cane cutters' labour camp in the Awendo sub-county.

The family claims that Yvonne Akinyi, 20, was dispatched to a market in Awendo town on Monday but failed to return, leading to a search.

The body of Akinyi was discovered abandoned next to the sugarcane field, according to the deceased's uncle Andu Abade. Before her attackers killed her, they thought she had been $exually assaulted.

Adade also pleaded with the authorities to look into the case and apprehend the murderers, calling for more police patrols in the region to prevent a repeat of the crime.

"The police are currently looking into the matter, but we are requesting that they move quickly to identify the killers who committed this heinous act," he stated.

Awendo Sub-County Police Commander Mathias Pombo confirmed the tragedy and stated that although they have not identified the killers, a search has already been started.

Additionally, Mr Pombo urged the general public to share any tip-offs on the suspects' whereabouts.

Police are patrolling the neighbourhood to try to stop these deaths.
