Two Kamukunji police officers were arrested yesterday over a robbery with violence where the victims lost Kes50,000 in Juja town in Kiambu County.

Their Juja counterparts arrested them as they revisited a scene they had earlier robbed two men of more than Kes500,000 when they were arrested.

The initial robbery happened on July 31 along Kenyatta Road, police said.

After attending a ceremony in Embu, the victim, Machakos University student Robinson Mogaka, informed police that he was driving a salon car when he was obstructed by another vehicle.

The victim was handcuffed by three individuals who jumped out with pistols and demanded that he take them to his acquaintance, Abdulrahman Juma.

When they arrived at Juma's house, the policemen handcuffed him and forced them to drive them to the Total petrol station in the Marurui neighbourhood along the Northern Bypass, according to police.

They believe the officers had been tailing the university student who was driving a rental car.

There, they compelled the two to pay Kes 6,000 to fuel their (the cops') vehicle.

They also forced Robinson to transfer Kes85,000 from his mobile phone and US$4,3000 from both complainants through Binance online transactions.

They fled after abandoning the two. A probe was started after the complainants brought the issue up at the Juja police station.

The two officers were captured together with two additional suspected civilian accomplices on Wednesday after police received information that the same suspects were planning to visit Juma's home to obtain more money.

According to the authorities, one of the officers was then carrying a Jericho pistol with 14 bullets and a police radio in his pocket.

The suspects' two salon cars were also seized by the police.
