Scheller, 73, was sentenced to 30 years in prison for trafficking, 15 years for an indecent act with a child, and seven years for three charges of child pornography before Chief Magistrate Caroline Njangi.

The German national, suspected of entering the country illegally, was initially accused of defiling a minor in Kisumu County's Nyalenda district between March and April 2020.

He was also accused of recruiting, transporting, and harbouring a 13-year-old minor for fraud exploitation and displaying a pornographic video to two young boys.

Throughout the proceedings, he claimed that he was wrongly accused of the crimes and that he only intended to help the 13-year-old kid and her mother.

Scheller, who allegedly eluded a police dragnet in Kwale and escaped to Kisumu, where he committed the murders, was captured outside the German embassy in Nairobi, according to police.
