A local preacher from Bomet County was arrested in Kisii with a 17-year-old Form Four student while boarding a matatu on their way to Kisumu.
The girl, a student at Ngererit Secondary School in Bomet, had gone missing after her family reported her missing to the Mogogosiek Police Station in North Rift County.
Police officers pounced on the couple after receiving information from Matatu Five Star Sacco drivers at the Kisii bus terminal that they had seen the 25-year-old preacher, Kipkoech Rotich, with the girl while boarding another vehicle bound for Kisumu.
According to reports, the preacher was called to Ngererit Secondary School for sermons and then escaped with the girl, evading the police dragnet ever since.
