A man from Ematunzi village, Em'mutsa sub-location in Vihiga county, is on the run after stabbing his lover to death.

James Mutonyi, in his mid-30s, is claimed to have gone missing on Sunday after discovering that his alleged confrontation with the lady Saturday night in a pub resulted in her death.

Area assistant chief Michal Okusi confirmed the incident, saying Mutonyi had gotten information that his girlfriend had been spotted with another guy in the pub, so he walked outside, summoned her outside, and stabbed her multiple times before fleeing.

Okusi explained that The lady was rushed to Equator Hospital in Luanda town before being referred to Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Hospital, where she was pronounced dead upon arrival.

Okusi said that enraged residents rushed Mutonyi's home, baying for his blood and razing his one-roomed house and slaughtering a cow.

Okusi added that The mob had come to avenge themselves on the suspect, but when they couldn't find him, they burned down his house and destroyed his property.

He warned locals against taking the law into their own hands, asking individuals unhappy with their relationships to seek legal advice.

Meanwhile, the victim's family has sent their daughter's body to the Maseno Coptic Mission Hospital Morgue for autopsy, and Luanda police have opened an investigation.
