The United States of America, through the US Africa Command,  has donated four vehicles to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to enhance the fight against crime in the country.

Speaking on Wednesday, the DCI said the donation was handed over by Joseph Kellams, a top official from the US embassy representing the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Country Attaché, in a ceremony held at the DCI headquarters.

Kellams praised the DCI for its work in battling transnational organized crime but added that the cars will particularly help with mobility efforts against drug trafficking.

According to the US official, President Joe Biden's administration would continue to work with Kenya to combat crime.

The DCI Deputy Director, Ireri Kamwende, thanked the US embassy in Nairobi for its unwavering support of the Directorate while accepting the vehicles.

She added that the donation would greatly increase the Directorate's ability to address the country's security challenges.

Kamwende represented the DCI Director Mohamed Amin, who was engaged in other duties.

The US official was accompanied by other high-ranking officers from Homeland Security including Messrs Bryan McPherson and Kris Line.
