On Wednesday night, a family from Thiba in Mwea Constituency, Kirinyaga County, was surprised to discover the body of a 45-year-old man who went missing last week in Kerugoya Mortuary.

Patrick Macamba's family, led by his brother Michael Machamba, had been searching for him since last Friday when he went missing and asked for aid.

They were taken aback when they discovered his body at Kerugoya Mortuary.

"The mortuary attendant informed us that he had a neck injury when his body was brought here by police officers." "We believe he was murdered by unknown people," stated Simon Kathuri.

Macamba's body was discovered in Togonye, Murinduko ward, more than 30 kilometers from Thiba ward, according to Macamba's cousin Pius Kathuri.

"Gicobi was a mason in the surrounding villages, and it appears the killers wanted to eliminate him because they even left his motorcycle where his body was found," Katherine explained.

Before finding Mcamba's death, the deceased's brother Bundi stated that the dead had been living in a leased house at Red Soil in the Mathangauta sub-location.

According to family members, his phone was discovered ringing by a woman along the road at Red Soil village, where the lady gave it to a person who knew him before it was transported to Wanguru police station.

Mwea East sub-county police chief James Mutua stated that investigations had begun to determine what happened to Gicobi.

"We have reported the body as unknown after it was taken to Kerugoya County referral mortuary by Itangi police officers, and his motorcycle is still at Tangi police station," Mutua added.
