A Kenyan man with a parody account on X (previously Twitter) was detained on false charges that Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua wanted to harm Kiharu Member of Parliament Ndindi Nyoro.
Silvance Adongo Abeta, who maintains a parody account under the feminine identity Karen Wanjiku HSC (@WanjikuHSC), was arrested on Friday for promoting propaganda against Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and other government persons and entities, according to detectives.
According to Abeta's charge sheet, he is being charged with cybercrime, including cyberbullying and distributing falsehoods.
"The respondent is a well-known cyberbully who runs the parody Twitter (X) account @WanjikuHSC under the name Karen Wanjiku HSC." The respondent utilizes the parody account to broadcast fake information, bully, and cyber harass innocent Kenyan residents to conceal his genuine identity," according to the charge sheet.

His detention followed a contentious post about DP Rigathi Gachagua and Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro.
Abeta is currently soliciting funds and requesting well-wishers to contribute to his bail.
According to a list he released online, Embakasi East MP Babu Owino, who shelled out Ksh.15,000, is among others who have purportedly contributed to his bail.
