Former Mungiki leader Maina Njenga was allegedly abducted by unknown persons on Saturday night at around 11:10 pm in Ndenderu area in Kiambu.

According to his lawyer Ndegwa Njiru, the alleged abductors did not introduce themselves when they fled away with Njenga and his aide Felix Lakishe.

“His car was blocked by a vehicle with a Sudanese number plate. He was dragged and put in the vehicle and whisked away, alongside his aide,” Njiru said.

Speaking to Citizen Digital on phone , Njiru said Njenga is scheduled to appear before Makadara Court for a mention on the weapons case tomorrow.

“We do not know why they are abducting him. They are looking for a reason to arrest him when he does not appear in court," Njiru said.

Njenga , his aide and brother had earlier been arrested on July 19, 2023 after they were found in possession of 14 machetes, 24 Maasai swords, 46 rungus, and three jembe sticks.

However, he was released July 25 on a Kes 100,000 bail.
