Together with his girlfriend Muffin, Erica's best friend Shan Wanita, and their daughter Erica, they headed to Mombasa.

The survivor, Muffin Mungai, experienced so much trauma that the events leading up to the catastrophe were not entirely clear.
She also insisted that there was mayhem when the car suddenly lost control. The tires screeched, and the metal was grating against the pavement as the vehicle rolled over.
Also, the car rolled, and Muffin was thrown out the window, and her whole world went wild.
Subsequently, among the wreckage and darkness, she saw the lifeless bodies of Kevin and Shan Wanita. Erica had already been transported to the hospital after emergency personnel arrived on the scene, suffering from serious injuries.
First responders and medical professionals did their best, but injuries claimed the lives of Kevin, Erica, and Shan Wanita.
According to Muffin Mungai, who discussed this in a previous interview, Erica's mother—who was never shown in the photo—arrived out of nowhere and declared that she was legally married to Kevin and had been granted permission to use his body. She and her mother, Cate, insisted on burying Kevin at Langata cemetery, denying Kevin's grandmother the opportunity to bury her grandson.
The body was not allowed to be buried until the case was resolved after the matter was brought before the court.
At Kevin's house, Kevin's grandmother will be able to bury her grandson next to his mother's tomb.
