Club 1824 was demolished barely two months after it was reopened.

Bulldozers ravaged the famed entertainment establishment on Friday, leaving wreckage scattered across the area where it had stood.

The video footage also showed people attempting to secure some of the demolition rubble while others searched through it and took away valuables.

Crates full of alcohol were observed piled outside, with bystanders watching from a distance.

The destruction comes after the High Court refused to withdraw proceedings freezing assets worth Ksh.643.2 million belonging to 1824 owner Wilson Nahashon Kanani.

On September 13, 2023, Justice Esther Maina stopped Kanani from dealing with his holdings, which included high-end vehicles, residences, property, and Ksh.48 million stored in multiple bank accounts.

The ruling was made after the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) launched a case to seize the Nairobi County government employee's assets, the source of which he could not explain.

The ruling was made after the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) launched a case to seize the Nairobi County government employee's assets, the source of which he could not explain.

In its case, EACC stated that Kanani worked as a Development Control Officer II at the Nairobi County government's Urban Planning Department, earning a monthly gross income of Ksh.88,530 and a net compensation of Ksh.55,866.

The entertainment establishment was initially closed on December 20, 2023, in the presence of uniformed police officers.
