One of the most popular musicals in the world is about to return to Portugal in May 2025 and will only be on stage for two weeks in Lisbon and Porto.

Just like the film, released in 2008, the musical tells the fun story of a mother, a daughter, and three possible parents on a paradisaical Greek island, to the sound of ABBA's timeless songs.

Since its premiere in the West End, in London, more than 25 years ago, “MAMMA MIA!" has already won over more than 70 million people around the world, and is a true international phenomenon. It arrived in Portugal for the first time in 2016 and now returns almost a decade later.

The music and lyrics of "MAMMA MIA!" were written by Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus, members of the Swedish band. The script was written by Catherine Johnson, directed by Phyllida Lloyd, and choreographed by Anthony Van Laast. The production is conceived by Mark Thompson, lighting by Howard Harrison, sound design by Andrew Bruce & Bobby Aitken, and musical direction, additional materials, and arrangements by Martin Koch.

The show in Portugal will be in English and subtitled in Portuguese.

The musical will be at Campo Pequeno (Lisbon) and Coliseu do Porto from 20 May to 25 May 2025 and from 28 May to 1 June, respectively. Tickets will go on sale on 7 June, at 10 am on www.ticketline.sapo.pt
