The most exquisite harmonies are frequently the results of unplanned relationships and chance meetings. This is for Vanessa Mdee, the Tanzanian music sensation, and Rotimi, the multi-talented performer born in Nigeria.

Their love tale illustrates that fate has a way of bringing two souls together at the perfect time and that it knows no bounds. Rotimi talked about his first encounter with Vanessa before they were romantically involved in a recent discussion on the podcast "Earn Your Leisure."

Rotimi and Vanessa both had stage performances during the Essence Festival, a raucous celebration of black music and culture. Rotimi had no idea that this seemingly unremarkable interaction would drastically alter his life path.

Rotimi claimed that before meeting Vanessa, he was leading a carefree life. In addition to her attractiveness, she enthralled him with her musical prowess and success as one of Tanzania's most prominent music singers.

"Vee is an incredible woman, she saved my life because I was out here thotting. She's an artiste herself, one of the biggest in Tanzania, basically the East African Rihanna," he started.

He also recounted how they met.

"We met at Essence, she had a show there and I was performing on the main stage at Essence. So this one particular weekend, I saw her sitting at a pool table and I was like, 'Oh my God'. I didn't know her at the time. I was introduced to her way before but at that time I wasn't really interested, but the second time around we talked for like 15 minutes, and 15 minutes turned into 2 hours," Rotimi recounted.

Rotimi was constructing his Atlanta home at the time. Despite living on different continents, the pair stayed in touch, and their romance grew.
