Renowned Kenyan artist Nyashinski, whose real name is Nyamari Ongegu, established a significant collaboration with the Tecno corporation to lead the forefront of Tecno's innovative Camon 20 series. However, circumstances have taken an unfavourable turn, particularly due to his involvement in a legal dispute with a Nigerian music producer regarding the multi-million-shilling Tecno endorsement deal.
Sam Are Eliapenda Jedidah, better known as Sam Eli Are, claims that he made the decision to file a lawsuit against Nyashinski, accusing him of violating his copyright by agreeing to an endorsement arrangement with Tecno, a Chinese-based multinational smartphone manufacturer that is also named as a defendant. Sam Eli charges Nyashinski in court documents obtained by Saturday Nation with utilizing the popular song "Wach Wach," for which he provided the rhythms, to advertise and support Tecno Mobile's most recent gadget.
Eli said that he is entitled to a share of the money gained from the endorsement deal because he produced the song that Nyashinski used in the Tecno advertisements, but his attempts to get what is due to him have been ineffective.
