Eric Omondi and 15 others were convicted to one month in prison for unlawful assembly, with a Ksh 10,000 fine as an option. Eric, protesting the exorbitant cost of living, shared the news with his social media followers.
He found it strange that the government raised the gasoline price yesterday, yet they were sentenced to the same battle.
Omondi, on the other hand, stated that he is willing to serve for one month in the hopes of one-day triumphing.
Milimani Chief Magistrate Lukas Onyina convicted Omondi and his 15 co-accused after they altered their plea to guilty.

On February 21, 2023, Omondi was charged alongside Peter Mukundi, Elisha Ochieng, Felix Ikutwa, Frank Misango, Alpha Juma, Cyril Isindu, Bonface Bahati, Walder Sisulu, Philip Kiura, Ken Ndula, Mbwaya Mwale, Duncan Wafula, Rodgers Livoi, and Wyclif Ligano.
The 16 were convicted based on failing to notify the police, as the law requires.
In mitigation, the convicts requested a light sentence, claiming they were protesting the high living expense and that the punishment should not be too harsh.
If they were displeased with the sentence, they had 14 days to appeal.
