During the peak of his fame, comedian and actor Russell Brand is facing serious accusations of rape, sexual assault, and emotional abuse spanning a seven-year duration. These claims have surfaced as a result of a collaborative inquiry conducted by the Sunday Times, the Times, and Channel 4's Dispatches. Specifically, four women have come forward, asserting instances of sexual assault occurring between 2006 and 2013.
Brand has denied the allegations and said his relationships have been "always consensual".
Throughout the years in question, Brand held several prominent positions at different intervals, including roles at BBC Radio 2, Channel 4, and as a notable actor in Hollywood films.
Additional assertions stemming from the investigation pertain to allegations of Brand's purportedly controlling, abusive, and predatory conduct.
The inquiry's findings were released in the Sunday Times, while the Dispatches documentary titled "Russell Brand – In Plain Sight" was broadcasted on Channel 4 over the weekend.
Shortly after the allegations came to light, Brand went ahead with his pre-planned comedy performance at the 2,000-seat Troubadour Wembley Park Theatre in north-west London as part of his Bipolarisation tour. In the course of the approximately one-hour set, Brand made indirect references to the accusations but refrained from directly addressing them. He informed the audience that there were topics on his mind that he was unable to discuss.
