Eliud Kipchoge's record-tying fifth Berlin Marathon victory on Sunday catapulted Kenya into the spotlight worldwide.
The fifth-time winner of the Berlin Marathon will undoubtedly return home with a healthy sum of money.
The Star was able to determine the prize money that top athletes will receive for their performance in the event, however the amount that each person receives differs.
According to some sources, the race winners, men and women, will each get $50,000 (Sh7.3 million) in prize money. The sum is anticipated to be higher for someone who breaks the world record.

Accordingly, Kipchoge will receive Sh7.3 million. He will receive more overall due to sponsorship agreements and participation fees.
Third-place finishers will receive $12,500 (Sh 1.8 million), while runners-up will receive $25,500 (Sh 3.7 million).
Fourth-place finishers will each receive $7,500 (Sh 1.1 million), while fifth-place finishers will receive $5,000 (Sh 726,000).
Athletes that place sixth through tenth will receive $3,000 (Sh 435,630).
After winning the Berlin Marathon, Eliud Kipchoge, the finest marathoner in the world, continued his winning ways.
He timed it at 2:02:42.
Vincent Kipkemboi, another Kenyan, finished second with a time of 2:03:13.
