A woman from Mukuru Kwa Njenga informal settlement, who was turned away by Pastor Ng’ang’a after seeking help with rent, has received an outpouring of support from Kenyans, raising over Ksh320,000 in donations.
The fundraiser was launched after a video of the pastor dismissing the woman, identified as Milka Tegisi, went viral. Tegisi had appealed for rent assistance during a church service at Neno Evangelism Centre, only to be publicly turned down.

Her plight touched many Kenyans, prompting well-wishers to come together and offer financial aid, ensuring she could meet her housing needs.
In the clip, Pastor Ng’ang’a tells the lady to go to the police or the government and ask for a house under the affordable housing program.

“Kwenda polisi hapo, enda polisi, polisi ya kwenu ni wapi? enda kwa Sakaja Johnson. Si kuna nyumba zimejengwa siuende ukae hizo za affordable. (Go to a police station near you or go to Sakaja Johnson. Go live in those houses constructed under affordable housing program),” stated Ng’ang’a.
He also told her that his church is for prayer, not a place to beg for money.
“Do not bring me problems related to your house. Now that you have been locked out of your house, you have come to look for money. This is a house of prayer; if you want money, go to the government,” added the preacher.
The fundraiser was organised by a police officer Sammy Ondimu, who has been giving an update on the fundraiser.
Taking to his Instagram platform, Sammy thanked those who chipped in including Content creator Terence Creative for paying three months rent and paying school fees for the lady’s son.

“Thank you, Terence Creative, for paying three months’ rent and agreeing to pay this term’s school fees. Our team represented well. Thank you, my boss, MamaYao MamaYao, for joining me to go to the woman’s house,” stated Sammy.
He encouraged Kenyans to keep contributing, emphasizing that tenants struggling to pay rent are often at risk of eviction by landlords.
Pastor Ng’ang’a faced widespread criticism after the video went viral, with many accusing him of being insensitive toward his congregants. In response, several well-wishers pledged to assist the woman, ensuring she received the support she needed.
