Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei chastised Cabinet Secretary for Youth Affairs, Sports, and the Arts Ababu Namwamba for allegedly failing his duties.

Cherargei stated during Senate hearings that Namwamba was not doing enough to promote sports in the country.

"He makes time to interact with Tik Tok content creators." They are lovely people, but where are the football, athletics, and volleyball teams? "Why is the CS so concerned with online content creators but not traditional sports?" he wondered.

According to the Nandi senator, the CS has yet to aggressively revitalise sporting activities since taking office.

"The CS must be reset to factory settings." He needs to reconsider what he needs to do; sports is dying, and you are busy hosting content makers that will not help the country progress," he continued.

Cherargei remarked that Kenya does not appear to appreciate athletes when they return from overseas championships.

He stated that the country should increase its efforts to promote sports.

"We need to establish sports academies." The Premier League in the United Kingdom is profitable from every viewpoint. "The sporting world is enormous and lucrative," he explained.

He lamented that most of the public land set aside for children in metropolitan areas had been taken up.

"The CS must inform us of his plans for sports academies." "Since Sports Fund funds were used for campaigns in the last elections, I'd like to challenge the Labour and Social Welfare Board to tell us what's going on with the Sports Fund," he added.

He stated that funds provided to the Sports Fund should only be used for athletic activity.
