Musalia Mudavadi, Prime Cabinet Secretary, has issued a directive to public servants regarding the management and utilization of public resources at their disposal.
Mudavadi urged transparency, accountability, and responsible handling of public finances following the botched Ksh.3.7 billion mosquito nets tender.
The prime CS said that The President fired a warning shot to all public servants barely eight months after he took office. This is a clear sign that he is serious about the issues of integrity, accountability, transparency and prudent utilization of public resources within the government.
He stated that inconsistencies in the award of mosquito nets at the Kenya Medical Supplies Authority (KEMSA) and the discharge of sugar designated unfit for human consumption in 2018 are just a few examples of instances that went unnoticed by the government.

According to Mudavadi, these occurrences have prompted the government to be more careful in ensuring that no public funds are allocated to an unaccounted-for project, service, or purpose.
Mudavadi made the remarks on Friday in Njoro, Nakuru County, where he presided over introducing school buses funded by the National Government Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF) and conducted a tree planting exercise at Egerton University.
He also urged Kenyans to support the administration by keeping their eyes on the ground to help uncover any evils that may be occurring at the grass-roots level in terms of the management of public resources by public workers.
He also acknowledged the challenging economic times and the pain caused by the high cost of living, adding that Kenyans did not find themselves in this predicament overnight.
According to Mudavadi, this results from the previous regime's policy undertakings, whether by omission or commission, which should have paid attention to the correct indulging in a dishonest borrowing spree.
He asked Kenyans to be patient with the administration, which is working around the clock to turn the economy around for the benefit of all Kenyans.
The Prime Cabinet Secretary stated that the axe that fell on the public officials involved in the KEMSA saga should remind the public service that service to the people comes first. Mudavadi informed Kenyans that the President Ruto administration's policies benefit all Kenyans.
The Prime Cabinet Secretary was accompanied by Principal Secretaries Belio Kipsang (Education) and Aurelia Rono (Parliamentary Affairs in the Office of the Prime Cabinet Secretary), Njoro MP Catherine Kathambi Chepkwony, Egerton University Chancellor Prof. Isaac Kibwage, and other government officials.
