Anthony Martial, a forward from France, announced Monday that he will leave Manchester United after nine years.

I am writing to you today to say goodbye and with a lot of emotion. "It's time for me to start a new chapter in my career after nine amazing years at the club," Martial posted on Instagram.

In September 2015, the 28-year-old moved from Monaco to the Premier League club for £36 million ($45.9 million), but he fell short of the team's expectations. He has not played a senior game since December after undergoing groin surgery.

Martial won the FA Cup, the League Cup, and the Europa League while he was in England, but he was not successful in winning the Premier League or the Champions League. He scored ninety goals in all competitions during his 317 games played.

"Manchester United will always be in my heart. This club has left its mark on my career and offered me an incredible opportunity to play in front of you," continued Martial, who had a loan spell in 2022 at Sevilla.

"I'm leaving to take on new challenges, I'll always be a Red Devil and I'll continue to follow the club's results with passion."

Martial's contract expires this summer.
