The body of Orville Kimutai, a 23-year-old Kenyan student who drowned while swimming in Australia, has arrived in Kenya ahead of burial preparations in Elgeiyo Marakwet.
Family and friends gathered at the Eldoret International Airport to receive the body of Kimutai. He had traveled to Australia in March to pursue further education and had only been there for a few months before the fateful incident.
According to official reports, he died on the 9th of September while attempting to swim in the Stockton Lake. His body was retrieved the following day.

“The male required assistance in the water and was unable to be helped by members of the public on shore. Police attended the scene and commenced a search,” read a report by the Western Australia Police Force.
On September 13, the family launched a GoFundMe campaign to earn funds to fly their son back to his home in Kapteren, Keiyo North, in Elgeyo Marakwet County for burial.
On October 6, a memorial service will be held at Eldoret's Sacred Heart Cathedral.
On Saturday, the 7th, his funeral rites will be performed before he rests at the family home in Elgeiyo Marakwet.
