Three individuals accused of vandalizing electrical installations owned by Kenya Power & Lighting Company were presented before a Murang’a court.

James Mwangi Muiruri, Stephen Thumbi Kagai, and Vincent Ndumia, also known as Gatoto, were apprehended as a result of a joint operation conducted by detectives and officials from the electricity distribution company, situated in Murang’a County.

Crucial evidence pertaining to the case, which encompassed various transformer lamination sheets, was retrieved from the residences of the suspects located in Kenol and Saba Saba in Murang’a County.

Prior to this, the suspects had guided the officers to Gakuyu shopping centre in Kigumo, where they had vandalized a transformer sub-station, absconded with three drums containing copper windings, and illicitly extracted over 80 liters of transformer oil.

The three individuals are being charged with the vandalization of electrical installations and infrastructure, which is in violation of section 169(1)(b) of the Energy Act.
