The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) on Friday launched the Mukuru Community Social Justice Centre to assist local residents in documenting various cases atrocities that may have been committed against them by security agents and other individuals.
Speaking during the launch, Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Renson Ingonga said the facility will also serve as a crucial source of information for law enforcement and other actors in criminal justice system.
Further, the ODPP said that its main focus is on a people centered prosecution service which includes collaboration, coordination and cooperation with crucial stakeholders who form the criminal justice system.

“The office is committed to adopting alternatives to prosecution as rehabilitative and restorative justice mechanisms as well as empowering the local community on their right to fair administrative action and access to justice,” ODPP said.
The center will help address human rights violations, police excesses, defilement, and other social injustices in the community.
