Today is Uhuru Kenyatta's 62nd birthday.

Kenyans commemorate the day with films and recollections of his endearing and captivating persona as Head of State.

Here are memorable things about him:

He enjoys dancing, and everyone can see the happiness on his face when he jigs.

The former president never missed an opportunity to get up and listen to local and foreign music. He was taken aback and even breached protocol, surprising his security detail.

- He always complied with Kenyans' requests for selfies and high-fives. And when the camera clicks, he smiles big time.

- His delight and pride in holding children in public led many to conclude that he was a natural father figure, touching people's hearts while he played and tried cooking with them.

He enjoyed driving by himself. In addition, he went for walks with startled bystanders while his bodyguards followed closely behind. He greeted Kenyans and asked them how they were doing all the time.

- He was frequently observed inspecting projects at night in the CBD. He took great pride in seeing his projects through to completion.

-He frequently wore shirts, particularly kitenge attire, which led to the enduring nickname "Uhuru wa Mashati Kali" for him.
