Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga and Kalonzo Musyoka are attending the petition hearing seeking the removal of the four IEBC commissioners.

The leaders have been accompanied by Azimio Communications director Prof Makau Mutua.

The four commissioners include Juliana Cherera (vice chairperson), Irene Masit, Francis Wanderi and Justus Nyangaya.

The Justice and Legal Affairs Committee is meeting the first petitioner - a representative of the Republican Liberty Party represented by Kennedy Mongare, accompanied by members of the party's national chairman Zachary Momanyi.

Advocates for the commissioners are Jotham Arua for Justus Nyangaya, Donald Kipkorir for Irene Masit, Danstan Omari and Apollo Mboya for Juliana Cherera, and Gichamba (confirm) for Francis Wanderi.

In the petition filed on 16th November by the Republican Party, they claimed that the four failed to promote public confidence in their office by issuing a parallel presser to reject the election results announced by Mr Wafula Chebukati.

The second petitioner, Rev Dennis Ndwiga, is seeking the removal of the four on the allegations of gross misconduct and incompetence.

Further, Geoffrey Langat and Jerry Owuor, who are the third and fourth petitioners, respectively, cited gross violation of the Constitution, gross misconduct and incompetence as grounds for the removal of the four embattled commissioners.
