Senator Samson Cherargei was among the prominent figures who shared the humiliating footage, blaming Transport Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen for the airport's obvious incompetence.

"CS Murkomen came all the way to Nandi County two weeks ago and called me a fool I thought he had finished all the works in Ministry of Roads & infrastructure! While he was busy insulting me, there was NO standby generators at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) and the airport terminal roofs are leaking massively!" he posted on X (formerly Twitter).

"JKIA is a steeplechase arena! Waziri wacha aibu ndogo mbele ya wageni fanya kazi! Poleni wageni...Look at video below of massive leaking of JKIA Terminal roofs!," he added.

JKIA was one of the significant installations affected by the night power outage on November 11.

Passengers were trapped during the 8 p.m. outage, which occurred only two months after extensive plans, including managerial changes, were implemented to avoid repeat incidents.

Kenya Airport Authority (KAA) apologized for the inconvenience caused and described actions in place to relieve the problem in a statement.
