Government Spokesman Isaac Mwaura revealed that 150 million trees were planted on Monday, with 10.7 million trees listed in the Jaza Miti Portal.
Speaking during his inaugural address on Wednesday, Mwaura commended Kenyans for their efforts during the initiative, encouraging them to declare the trees they had planted for accurate records.
“The Kenya Kwanza administration targets to plant 15 billion trees in a span of ten years for landscape and ecosystem restoration in the country,” he stated.
Defending President William Ruto’s foreign trips, he revealed that the Head of State has gotten the country Kes 2 trillion from international deals since September 2022.
Further, Mwaura said Kenya has received investment from countries like the United Kingdom, the United States, and China.

“If you have Kes 900 billion investment in our country, it is going to be a game-changer. The biggest project they have is the railway city here in Nairobi that is going to revolutionise our urban transport system,” Mwaura said.
The government spokesperson also highlighted the recent signing of a Kes 8.7 billion agreement with the United States’ Millennium Change Corporation (MCC) to finance the acquisition of electric buses for Line 2 of Nairobi’s Bus Rapid Transit system.
“If we have 350,000 Kenyans going abroad imagine the kind of money that is being sent home if we are currently getting about Kes 750 billion from Kenyans abroad,” Mwaura said.
Additionally, he said that Kenya has bagged $75 million in green investment to boost its climate action efforts, adding that the President has also had talks with Ukraine's Volodymyr Zelensky to have a grain hub in Mombasa.
