A traffic advisory has been issued by the Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) in response to flooding that caused overtopping at the Kwa Kadzengo swamp area near Mtwapa in Kilifi County.
The road is currently impassable, according to KeNHA, as a result of the countrywide and local heavy rains that have wholly submerged the area.
Before traffic resumes as usual, the Authority advises drivers to use caution and restraint while they wait for the water levels to drop. A statement was released on Friday night stating that the area is presently under construction.
“The new road will be 1.50m higher than the existing one with four 1200mm twin culverts to be installed to balance water levels on both sides of the road. This will have addressed the perennial overtopping of these areas.”
