The chairperson of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party has stated that the party will not forgive those who betrayed the party after getting support for an elective office.

While addressing a meeting presided over by ODM party leader Raila Odinga in Migori, he claimed many people the party supported had abandoned it once elected.

He stated that individuals who have betrayed the party will never be permitted to return since only faithful members are desired.

Meanwhile, Migori county ODM secretary Joseph Olala has advised the party not to award any candidates a straight party ticket in the upcoming election until they have been vetted.

Olala stated that a number of elected leaders who had defected from the ODM party had been offered direct tickets.

He stated that the party must now consider numerous factors, including loyalty, before issuing tickets to any member.

The ODM has awarded Uriri Member of Parliament Mark Nyamitta and his Rongo counterparts straight tickets to run for the seats in the 2022 elections.

Some party members expelled from the party include Kisumu Senator Tom Ojienda and MPs Elisha Odhiambo and Felix 'Jalang'o' Odiwuor.

They were charged with breaking the ODM constitution and the Political Parties Act 2011 by publicly associating with and supporting a rival political group's operations and rejecting legal decisions made by the party.

However, the decision to expel the members was suspended by the Political Parties Disputes Tribunal.

According to the court documents, "In the interim and pending the hearing and determination of this Application, this Honourable Tribunal hereby issues interim conservatory orders staying the implementation and/or execution of the 1st Respondent's decision to expel the Complainant/Applicant, Hon. Phelix Odiwuor Kodhe, from the Orange Democratic Movement Party,"
