Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has today paid an impromptu inspection visit to the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) headquarters ahead of the party primaries slated for April 2024.
During the visit, the DP commended the Secretariat for “the great work they have done towards running the party.”
This comes a week after UDA held a meeting chaired by the Party leader, President William Ruto, where it resolved that the primaries be postponed to 12th, 19th, and 26th April 2024, respectively.
“All candidates and members of the Party are encouraged to continue sensitizing and recruiting members to the Party,” the announcement read.
UDA, which claims to have 7.2 million members, will employ technology to ensure the local votes are legitimate.

The party gave parastatal chiefs permission to run in the next grassroots elections, scheduled for December 9, 2023, this week.
Attorney General J. B. Muturi and Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi's first advice, which classified parastatal heads as State Officers and barred them from participating in political party activities, conflicts with this ruling.
Cleophas Malala, the party secretary general, clarified that the Court of Appeal's verdict was the foundation for UDA's decision.
This ruling determined that board chairmen and Directors do not fall under the category of State Officers, as defined by the Constitution.
Hence, UDA has permitted them to participate in the grassroots elections.
