Nigerian flight NUA 0504 passengers were confused after landing in the wrong city, leaving them stranded as they waited for the crew to fix the problem.
On Sunday, the flight took off from Muritala Muhammed International Airport, Terminal 2, bound for Abuja, but landed in Asaba instead.
United Nigeria Airlines announced on Sunday that the Lagos-Abuja aircraft had been diverted to Asaba, the capital of Delta State, due to adverse weather conditions.
Despite the crew's announcement to the passengers that they had arrived in Abuja, the captain had actually grounded the plane at Asaba International Airport, which caused considerable confusion among the passengers.
@dawisu, a user on X posted that the pilot was given the incorrect flight plan from Lagos.
Nigeria my country. We departed Lagos about an hour ago on @flyunitedng to Abuja, and upon arrival, the cabin crew confidently announced that we've arrived Abuja, only for us to realize that we landed in Asaba. Apparently, our pilot was given wrong flight plan from Lagos π€£πββοΈ pic.twitter.com/Qv4zepDiVF

"My country is Nigeria." We took @flyunitedng from Lagos to Abuja about an hour ago, and when we arrived, the cabin attendant confidently declared that we had arrived in Abuja, only for us to realise that we had actually landed in Asaba. Our pilot was apparently given the incorrect flight plan from Lagos."
Through its Head of Corporate Services, Achilleus-Chud Uchegbu, the airline stated that the flight was diverted due to "poor destination weather."
The statement read in parts, βA United Nigeria Airlines flight, NUA 0504, operating from the MM2 in Lagos en route Abuja on Sunday, November 26, 2023, was temporarily diverted to the Asaba International Airport due to poor destination weather. At all material time, the pilot of the aircraft was aware of the temporary diversion and was properly briefed."
βHowever, a wrong announcement was made by cabin crew upon landing safely in Asaba, creating confusion among the passengers.β
"Meanwhile, the aircraft has landed safely in Abuja following improvement on destination weather." said Uchegbu,
We legit got scared sha.
