River Rangwena in Wahambla village in Homa Bay County on Tuesday night broke its banks sweeping through the village located on the outskirts of Homa Bay town.
A joint team led by Kenya Red Cross, Homa Bay County Commissioner Moses Lelan, and Governor Gladys Wanga is leading evacuations of the residents.
Victims of the midnight incident are being ferried to the nearby Rangwena Primary School.
Prior to this, after floods destroyed the whole village of Bala in Homa Bay's Karachuonyo Constituency, about 500 families from that village sought safety in the Bala and Buru primary schools.
The locals, who are tallying losses from crops, animals, and poultry, are now pleading with the government to step in and end the area's ongoing floods.
