It is anticipated that President William Ruto will depart the nation to participate in the 28th Conference of the Parties (COP28) of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
In his role as Chair of the Committee of African Heads of State and Government on Climate Change (CAHOSCC), Ruto, Africa's spokesperson on climate action, will promote Kenya and the continent's climate agenda.
According to a statement from State House Spokesman Hussein Mohamed, Ruto intends to highlight the critical need for transformative climate action to buck the current global trend.
In addition, he will make a statement on behalf of Africa, emphasizing its priorities and expanding on the historic Nairobi Declaration of African Leaders, which was adopted during the first Africa Climate Summit in Nairobi in September 2023.
