Kitengela bodaboda owners are outraged by unfair competition from minibuses operating in the area.
The operators told Citizen TV that an onslaught of minibusses had left them with no customers. Constant conflicts between operators using the Old Namanga route resulted from the factions' push-and-pull.
Commuters, on the other hand, are vehemently opposed to the move by bodaboda operators, claiming it is prohibitively expensive.
When contacted, the bus firms stated that the decision was prompted by commuter requests to extend the route into their area.

"In a quest to make commuters comfortable amid the ongoing rains, we started dropping them closer to their homes," the matatu operator remarked.
Locals have praised the idea, claiming it has been useful because the minibuses pick them up from their estates.
Residents of Kitengela raised the alarm earlier this year after disagreements between matatus, tuk-tuks, and bodaboda riders on the Acacia route.
"To start with bodabodas overcharge us, while tuktuks pack us like sardines, not forgetting that they are very rude," stated one of the residents.
"Matatus has come to our aid with comfort and reasonable pricing." If Tuktuks and bodabodas can't compete on price, they should walk out of the game and leave it to those who are prepared to give competitive services."
Residents have asked the Kajiado County administration to intervene and assist them.
