After an excruciating 20-year search, a 40-year-old man has been reunited with his family after going missing while on a trip to Nairobi with his mother.
Peter Mburu, who was discovered receiving treatment at Njoro sub-county hospital, got lost when he and his mother visited Kawangware in Nairobi two decades ago.
According to her mother, Joyce Nyambura, they looked for their son in various locations, including mortuaries, until they gave up hope.
According to Njoro Deputy Country Commissioner David Mbevi, they discovered Mburu lying in a trench on the side of a road and rushed him to the hospital.

Mbevi said they later publicized the news about the unknown man until his Limuru family came calling and identified him as their relative.
The family relocated Mburu to Limuru, claiming they would attend to his poor health before organizing a welcome-back ceremony.
